The election for the union staff representative to serve on the University of Michigan Police Department Oversight Committee will be conducted July 7-14.

The Police Department Oversight Committee receives and makes recommendations regarding grievances against any police officer or the U-M Police Department. Its findings and recommendations are reported to the executive director of the Division of Public Safety and Security.

The six-member oversight committee includes two students, two faculty members (one Senate faculty and one non-Senate faculty), and two staff members (one union and one non-union), who are nominated and elected by their peers for two-year terms.

University Human Resources is conducting this election. Staff members in the AFSCME, HOA, IUOE, MNA/UMPNC, SEIU, Skilled Trades, UMMAP, and UPAMM unions are eligible to vote. The elected candidate will serve on the committee for a two-year term beginning July 28.
