Reading room hours changing at Bentley Historical Library

Estimated reading time: 1 minutes

The Bentley Historical Library has announced changes to its reading room hours that will take effect in October. Earlier this year, the library sent out a survey asking visitors to identify which open hours work best for them.

Based on that feedback, the new hours for the reading room will be:

  • Monday: closed
  • Tuesday: 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 9:30 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Thursday: 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • Friday: 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

These hours will be effective from Oct. 6 through April 25, 2026. Visit the library’s Visiting page at bentley.umich.edu/about/visiting/ for more information.

Additionally, the library is introducing orientation appointments to help new visitors learn about the library’s policies as well as consultations for returning visitors to ask archivists questions about their research. These will be online or phone meetings, lasting about 15 minutes. Sign up for an orientation or consultation appointment online.
