Campuswide New Faculty Orientation set for Aug. 20

A campuswide New Faculty Orientation, designed to introduce all new faculty to the University of Michigan, will take place from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Aug. 20 on the second floor of the Michigan League.

Sponsored by the Office of the Provost and the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching, the orientation will help new faculty members prepare for their first year at the university.

After welcoming remarks from President Domenico Grasso and Provost Laurie McCauley, there will be a CRLT Players performance and interactive sessions where faculty can share experiences and strategize about good teaching. 

The program will also feature a luncheon with a panel of speakers including McCauley; Arthur Lupia, vice president for research and innovation; and Derek Peterson, professor of history and of Afroamerican and African studies in LSA and chair of the Faculty Senate. 

An Information Fair with representatives from key university offices will conclude the event.
